Are you eligible for free, on-line tax preparation and electronic filing services?

Thanks to an alliance between the Department of Revenue, the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) and the tax software industry called the Free File Alliance, LLC, over one million Kentucky taxpayers may now prepare and file their taxes on-line at no cost.

You must enter through this site to file both your federal and Kentucky returns at no cost.  By going directly to a company’s web site or IRS.gov, you may be charged a fee.

Each participating software company sets its own eligibility requirements and the requirements vary among the companies. We recommend that you read carefully the information about each company's criteria for the free services to determine if you are eligible and which service is best for you.
