Governor Ernie Fletcher signed House Bill 272 on March 18, 2005. HB 272 is the most extensive reform of Kentucky's tax code in more than half a century. Governor Fletcher was joined by the bill's sponsor, House Minority Floor Leader Jeff Hoover (R-Jamestown), and bipartisan leaders from both chambers of the General Assembly. Several Kentucky taxpayers also attended the historic event, including college students, business owners and low income Kentuckians who will no longer pay state income taxes.
